Draft saddle fit isn't always simple. Broad, flat backs and wide shoulders mean even a Western saddle labeled "draft" or "wide" can bridge, rock, or leave gaps. This budget-friendly shim pad gives you a way to fine-tune the fit you have, adding support right where your saddle and your horse don't quite meet.
Six shim pockets let you add or remove the included 1/2" felt shims wherever you need them. Fill in a gap where the saddle bridges, lift the front if it sits low over the withers, or even out the back if it tips. It won't fix a saddle that's truly the wrong shape, but it can smooth out a lot of the small fit issues drafts are known for.
The pad is built in layers: a 1/2" neoprene bottom, a 1/4" felt center, and a water-repellent canvas top with wear leathers. The neoprene grips well, so the saddle stays put, and it hoses off easily between rides. The trade-off is that neoprene doesn't breathe much, so it can run sweaty on hot days. Use it on its own or under a saddle blanket.
